P2 Strong and Weak Beats

This week, we learnt about strong and weak beats in music. We started with the song 'Everybody do this' and students took turn leading the actions. Next, I led the students to do a 4-beat ostinato with a clap on the strong beat and taps on the shoulders to mark the weak beats. This was to help them differentiate the strong beats from the weak. After they got used to the pattern, we did the pattern while singing, then I explained that this song had a 4-beat pattern. The first beat is the strong one and needs to be louder and more emphasised than the weak beats. We did the same thing for the 2nd song, Fais Do Do, except this time in triple time. I ended the lesson by getting students got to play the S-W-W pattern on instruments.
